Hmm, I know what you mean! I have about 40 pages left to read, and have very mixed feelings so far. It’s not really a book which I feel compelled to read. Did you write a review of it?
I was very uncomfortable with the book for a number of reasons and felt in the end that Idina wasn’t a person I really wanted to know and wasn’t a person who deserved a whole book trying to justify her behaviour!
Ooh, great, thank you for the link! I completely agree with everything you’ve said, especially this: ‘A lot of the writing is Osborne’s take on things and she embellishes a lot of situations for which the only source is a short few words in one of her forebear’s diaries.’. It seems to me that large sections of it just follow the structure of ‘He went here and here and here, and then he did this’, and none of it is overly pivotal to the story.
Yes, I very much felt that a lot of it was supposition! Needless to say I gave it away quickly…
Hi Kirsty! I just had a book haul that should never had happened as well! I went to Frugal Muse which is just like your charity shops where books cost much less then what they originally cost. I got four novels. Also the owner knows my step-father so I always get a discount whenever he is there. I had so much fun!
Hi Kirsty! I got four books at the bookstore. I got The Children by Edith Wharton because I have recently finished reading The Reef which I really loved. I got Hemingway’s Girl by Ericka Robuck who also wrote a novel about Zelda Fitzgerald which is Call Me Zelda which I have already but I have not read it yet. I got The Unseen by Katherine Webb who wrote The Legacy which I really enjoyed but was deeply tragic. I have to make a confession: I got A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin which I bought already but I have lost it somewhere in my house because I have too many books! I am a huge Game of Thrones fan and I just finished the first book which I utterly adored! Sincerely, Nora
Oh, they all sound wonderful! I really need to start reading ‘Game of Thrones’; I think it’s the book which more people have recommended me than any other. Enjoy all of your new reads! 🙂
That happens to me aaaall the time…
I think it goes with the bookworm territory, doesn’t it? 😛
Well done! I have to say I didn’t get on with The Bolter at all, but you may like it more than me! 🙂 Enjoy the Agathas!

That sounds like such a tempting bookshop! Which books did you get? I’m glad you had a lovely time! 🙂
